Our MUD is operated by players who have proven themselves dedicated and disciplined enough to be promoted to the rank of "Immortal" or "Imm". These immortals are characters that have been advanced in level and handle various aspects of the MUD's day-to-day operation, from building rooms and zones to enforcing roleplay and interacting with other players.
There are three types of immortals on our MUD: Socials, Builders, and Coders. Each of these types has a hierarchy with one immortal, called an "Implementor" or "Imp", in charge of the staff in their section.
These immortals typically handle player interactions (via quests) and disciplinary actions for players caught violating our MUD policies. These are the immortals that players are most likely to see visible on the MUD. Questions regarding either of these issues can be addressed to a Social imm.
These immortals typically handle the construction of new rooms and zones, equipment balancing issues, fixing typos found in descriptions, and scripted events that occur within the MUD. These immortals are often visible on the MUD, but work most of the time on our Builders' port. Questions or comments regarding any of these issues can be addressed to a Builder imm.
These immortals typically handle anything related to the underlying operation of the MUD itself, such as: combat systems, the addition of new classes or races, general functionality of the MUD itself, and debugging code that may cause crashes to occur. These immortals are sometimes visible on the MUD, but spend most of their time invisible while they work on code. Questions or comments regarding any of these issues can be addressed to a Coder imm.
Please note: All immortals are allowed, and expected, to enforce rules if they see a violation occurring. Do not assume that just because a Social imm is not present that policies can be ignored.
For a full briefing on our MUD policies, please read our policy page, or visit the mortal policy boards in either Kalaman or Karthay after logging in to the game. These boards are also available in many other major cities.
